This block was printed onto acid-free 90gm Japanese Hosho paper using traditional light-fast, oil-based inks in a dark grey/blue.

This handmade Lino Print was made for a friend by the artist Zoe Ansari. This Witch is not your typical Witch and her tree is not your typical tree, it is a fantastical beast crossed with a plant. The Witch is tentatively checking out the fox as a possible familiar. The design is loosely inspired by Jacobean embroidery patterns and motifs which I found whilst perusing the needlework books I inherited from her late Grandmother.
This block was printed using a beautiful antique Colombian printing press made around 1814. There is barely a handful left in this country.

Zoe Ansari is a Cambridge based artist creating hand printed limited edition prints from hand carved linoleum blocks.

Zoe’s work is inspired by her native countryside, the wild flowers and fauna. Whilst she is out walking the dog, she daydreams a lot. Zoe likes to mix those influences with some folklore, mythology, literature and music. Her work comes from her unique interpretation of what I see and imagine.
