Interested in learning the craft of lettering in wood or stone in 2025? You might be wondering how to get started, which tools to buy, how to sharpen your chisels?

I would like to offer short courses throughout the year, tailored for individuals or small groups, from my workshop in South Norfolk.

Beginners and experienced improvers will be welcome, whether you want to get carving quickly or study letterform and layout in more depth. You may be a calligrapher, signwriter or graphic designer who wants to broaden your skills or knowledge base. You might be a furniture maker who wants to add words to your work.

My modest workshop is located at the centre of the picturesque village of Pulham Market (conveniently between the corner shop and the pub!). 'Pulham' is 14 miles south of Norwich and has a number of good local places to stay.

Prices will vary from £160 / day for groups and from £200 / day for one to one tuition.*
