Lisi Ashbridge
Letter Artist & Stone Carver
‘Lettering in stone allows me to make a deeply personal and long lasting sculptural form that expresses a tribute, evokes a memory or simply makes a statement.’
From her studio in the Pewsey Vale, and based on an academic background in visual recognition, art and design, Lisi uses this old British tradition of letter carving to create a wide range of original and beautifully crafted representational sculptures in stone and slate, contemporary and traditional, inspired by themes as diverse as poetry, history, philosophy, science and the landscape.
Each job is unique and it is important to her to evolve, design and carve lettering appropriate to the material, text, location of the setting of the piece and the sanctity of the terms of the commission.
‘It is a true privilege to be able to work closely with and respond to clients and create something both personally meaningful and beautiful.’
Lisi is a Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) alumni - the Royal Warrant Holders Association scholarship and a member of Letter Exchange.
